Lignin Hydrogenolysis over Bimetallic Ni–Ru Nanoparticles Supported on SiO2@HPS

Lignin obtained by hydrogenolysis of lignocellulose biomass is a prospective source valuable green fuels and chemicals such as monophenols. One the key factors in chemical decomposition lignin to monophenols an efficient catalyst. Inert porous materials hypercrosslinked polymers are suitable catalytic supports for immobilization noble transition metal nanoparticles. However, do not have acidic properties, which crucial catalyzing hydrolysis. In this work, we report novel, catalysts produce monophenolic compounds. The synthesized contained Ni, Ru, Ni–Ru nanoparticles supported on SiO2-coated polystyrene (SiO2@HPS). Ni-Ru/SiO2@HPS demonstrated remarkable stability without any loss metallic phase high yield (>42 wt.%) at close full conversion (>95 wt.%). This result was attributed synergy between two metals support’s surface acidity. All were fully characterized series physico-chemical methods.
